I am going to make shibori shrugs in silk and poly fabrics. Which dyes would you recommend? However I am quite nervous in using dyes because I havent done it before - is it difficult? By the way, I bought some velvet packets from you at the Perth Quilt Fair and they are lovely. Hope you can help me ..... Regards Pauline

Silk can be dyed with any dyes. Poly is much more difficult. For guaranteed results you need the Idye Poly. However if you get the acid dyes you will have great results with your silk and they MAY dye your poly too. In the first instance you could try that and if it works, great if not you need a specific poly dye. If it is a blend, try the acid dyes and see if you like the effect. The dye will take well to the silk and less to the poly in the blend but this can be very interesting.
