Welcome 2009.
I hope that you had a restful and enjoyable Christmas break and that you and your family are happy and safe.
I know that this is predictable, but I really don't know what happened to 2008. It seemed to pass in a flash. For us, it was a good year - busy, productive and moderately event free. I hope for the same for 2009. Like many, the first week of January forces me to turn my mind to the coming year. As a matter of course, I try to re-evaluate where I am headed, finalise plans and set goals for the year. Doing this in a business setting is often far easier than personally, but I try to do that too. With eight shows booked for 2009, my already over committed life will require rigorous adherance to plans and schedules to ensure that everything gets done. On the home front, having one son completing year 12 and the other year 10 will present its own sets of challenges, most of which I don't expect I can plan for or control. I probably should have put flexibility and good humour on the Christmas list.
I have started the year with a new club and a new quilt challenge. A brief description of both are below. More details are included elsewhere in this website. Also check our our new VIP program. For those of you currently enrolled in clubs, magazine subscriptions or BOM's, you will receive details in the post. For others, for a small cost, you can also enjoy 12 months VIP priviledges. Look under Clubs, subs and BOMs for details.
I have spent the last couple of weeks engaging in some fairly intensive design work. For years, I have been intiqued by the potential of geometric shapes. I love the elegance of the maths that makes patchwork come together and how truely contemporary simple traditional ideas and techniques, done differently, can be. You may remember the workshops I have run over the years on tesselations and log cabins. Well, I have been revisiting a lot of this work and have been experimenting with design concepts "beyond the boundaries" as well as reinvigorating some old classes and patterns that I have not done much, if anything, with in the past few years. Over the next month or so, I will be bringing these together into a range of patterns and kits that will be quick and easy to complete, use some luscious fabric combinations, and look much more complicated than they are. Keep an eye out for these over the next few weeks. I will make announcements of new products once a month by email newsletter, so sign up to receive these if you have not already.
As always, I hope you enjoy this site. There is still a lot to be loaded and new products coming on line every day. Let me know if you are looking for something that you can not find. I may just not have added it yet. Best wishes for a fabulous 2009.
